Feedback for "MyHome" - FFXIclopedia's new "Main Page"

My bookmark is set to the News page so I would never have noticed had I not read this, but I'm in agreement, this is completely unnecessary. I'm glad the option is there to disable this redirect, but the redirect should only be there in the first place for registered users, because honestly if you registered you're obviously at least somewhat interested in the concept of editing.

I know that wikia likes to emphasize free editing by any and all, but, and let's be frank, anonymous edits tend to be either insignificant to the point of pointlessness or outright vandalism. Perhaps not as much in a community game such as this but wikia isn't limited to games.

I almost always get on the wiki either through my usepage or using the firefox ffxiclopedia search box, so I haven't seen the main page for a while.
And yup, I agree that it looks horrible.
For anyone coming to the site, it isn't welcoming at all!

Also, why did it change my skin when I removed the redirection to the MyHome ???

I have to agree with others. I consider myself a bit of an editor, not major, but if I see something wrong I fix it... I like the MyHome page itself, but only if I specifically want to see that information. I still come here primarily for the content, not for the history of edits. Also I would have never seen this as my bookmark is also http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Main_Page, but for those who just use the domain name, I can't think of a single reason why anyone would want the MyHome page as the default page. As it's an option you can enable if you're a registered user, that should be sufficient, so anyone who does want it, can have it.

I'm starting to consider staying logged off unless I have an edit to make. getting redirected to that crap means I have to load more pages before I get to actual information that could be relevant.

The usefulness of this page would be significantly increased if it didn't track every edit made by users to their user page, which seems to count for a very large part of all edits these days.

I'm not sure if this is related or just a coincidence, but for the past few weeks since this started I've frequently been having to refresh pages on the wiki just to get them to show up. Usually the first time I get the "W" iki symbol in my address bar and tab, and although the correct address is there the page itself is completely blank. After refreshing the page the FFXIclopedia frog icon shows up instead and the page loads correctly. This seems to happen on any page although I run into the problem at "http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Main_Page" the most primarily because that's the one I have bookmarked. I don't log in on the wiki side of this site.

I've been having the same problem, but I believe I've also had it happen on other wikis so it may be a problem with wikia. On topic, like everyone else I come to ffxiclopedia for the content not to see whats been edited.

The two main urls should go to the wiki main page. The myhome stuff shouldn't get in the way of the actual webpage content.

Just my 2 cents... That page looks like someone invested a whole lot of wasted time to make. When someone comes to wiki to look something up, do you HONESTLY think they care, or want to see, a page that only lists edit info? Seriously. The site is all about giving info to each other about FFXI, not about who the last edit wars were between. Put a link to that page for the edit spammers on the Main Page, if you want, but remove the redirect.

Also, why am I getting a second window popping open to another random wiki site now when I go to our wiki? Not to mention the OMFG advertizements if your not logged in now. If someone could transfer all the info to a site without ad spamming I would follow the transfer...

I don't seem to be having this happen to me. But Firefox may be why. Does it do this to you if you set your bookmark to the News page instead?
