(( >.< I was intending for Mogwai to show up to the summit with the other beastmen leaders))

I broke into a heavy sprint the moment that the spell finished. I didn't care that it was San d'Oria, and for all my comments about wishing the place would burn to the ground, I didn't actually mean it.

The western gate was undefended, one of the guards nearby on the ground with a sword wielding mithra preparing to deliver a coup-de-grace. A quick punch to the face stopped that. She swung back at me with her sword as I tried my best to avoid getting carved up.
"Look, I have nothing against San d'Oria or Windurst, but I sure am glad you're not from Bastok" I said, ducking under a high swing "I mean, look at that sword. The way it's connected to the hilt" I caught the next swing with my hands, ignoring the pain as it cut into my palms, and gave it a nice twist, snapping it at the hilt "Err... was connected."
I tossed the blade over my shoulder and proceeded to brutally beat the daylights out of the unarmed and defenseless girl. The guard was of course no help, and he got up and ran away when the fight was over.
"A THANK YOU WOULD BE NICE!" I shouted after him "...goddamn elvaan"

The path to the auction house was stuffed with tarutaru, and as I stepped into view one of them began to charge me. A quick kick, more sharply lifting him up than attacking, and he was airborne. As he came down, I pulled back and delivered a massive punch, knocking him to the wall with a sickening splat.
"M-My blood! You punched out all my blood!" cried the taru
"Oh you'll be fine. You can still talk can't you?" I yelled at him.

More of the dimunitive warriors were approaching now. This was going to be fun.

((That taru... err, wasn't one of them. That was someone trying to run))

((Ah, I was waiting for the other beastmen to be there, since I assumed that she'd join them then and they'd all go up there together. I didn't interact with the crew since I thought they were just getting ready, and that all prospective buyers would be arriving at the docks and heading to the summit (I was under the impression it'd be an auction of sorts actually). Anyway, I think I've come up with something that'd work, just gimme a bit to write it out))

Volt'aire had landed in front of the Auction House and made his way through the crowd of panicked civilians and warriors doing battle. When enemies approached him, a simple glare knocked them away as if a Gigas had punched them square in the chest.

"You picked a horrible night to dare start something," Volt'aire reached his hand to the sky, the full moon in the air behind him. Darkness swirled around his hand and his weapon began to take shape. The crooked wooden staff that appeared in his hand was topped with the skull of some demon, and jutting from behind the skull was the black mandible of some giant creature. Volt'aire wielded the crudely fashioned scythe with pride, it had served him well since the very day he took Xolotl's staff and ripped a mandible from Alaster Antlion to forge it. "The moon shines brightly tonight, and thus your fate is already decided!"

Volt'aire held up the scythe in both hands as a wave of enemies rushed towards him. "Crescent Impulse!" he swung the scythe hard and a wave of energy launched through the air, ripping his targets asunder. Volt'aire watched as they simply vanished like smoke in the air. They were not human after all.

"My hero," a voice coughed out. Volt'aire looked over to the Auction House and saw the figure of someone sitting against the wall.

"Resha! Are you hurt?"

The woman had her hand buried in her side, trying to compress a wound shut. "That bastard got me good. Ran off to North San d'Oria." Volt'aire knelt down beside her and tried to inspect the wound. "Oh, for Altana's sake, go after him! I've got this handled." She looked up at him and smiled. He grimaced in return. Her doublet was torn and covered in blood.

"I hope you're not going to cauterize it like you did last time." Volt'aire said simply and dashed back into the fray.

Resha laughed aloud as fire engulfed her hand. "Men." she said with a huff and ran her hand over her side.

---

Rosalyn appeared in the middle of a group of Temple Knights who had found themselves surrounded by a group of enemies. "Duck now, and that's an order!" she shouted with authority. The Temple Knights dropped to the ground, and Rosalyn unleashed a volley of One Thousand Needles all around. Enemies fell vanquished, and when the Temple Knights realized what had happened Rosalyn was already gone.

She reappeared closer to the Auction House this time and saw a tall Hume female punching her way through a crowd of Mithra. The woman was easily as tall as some Elvaan, and she had long black hair tied in a braid all the way to her feet. Her doublet had been sliced down the side and was stained with blood but the woman continued to fight.

"Resha! Are you alright?" Rosalyn called out.

"That you Ros?" Resha yelled back, caught up in her fight. She lobbed a fireball in front of her that burnt its way through several of the enemy troops before exploding against one of the ramparts of the city.

"Which way did he go!?"

"Ran off towards the Chateau, Volt'aire is after him too!" Resha held her hands together and a dark aura surrounded her. Her hair drifted upward as she began casting something large. "I suggest you get out of here, Rosalyn. This isn't going to be pretty."

Rosalyn nodded and turned toward North San d'Oria and vanished after taking a few steps. She appeared in the main square of North San d'Oria in time to turn back and see another pillar of flame reach to the sky. A sharp laugh that echoed through the air accompanied it.

The northern part of the city was relatively empty compared to the southern side. The forces of San d'Oria and the adventurers were holding ground, trying to protect the rest of the city. Volt'aire was nowhere to be seen, however.

"I wonder which way he went...?"

"Rosalyn Sable..." a voice echoed out over the roar of the battle behind them.

Rosalyn focused forward and saw a man standing a few yards in front of her. He wore heavy black armor on his limbs and a black tunic. His face was hard to see as it was covered by the shadows. As Rosalyn stepped forward she gasped. His face wasn't covered by shadows, but in fact, was shadow itself. One glowing eye and one normal brown eye stared at her. The man she had been searching for all this time, the self called Prince of the Shades, was becoming one.

"Joseph..." she said with whispered breath. "Is this your doing?"

"Marvelous, isn't it? My Fomor army has fallen soldiers of every race. It was quite simple to stage a Windurstian attack against San d'Oria. And the arrogant Elvaans will only have to resort in kind after this. All the while, all this bloodshed, all these lost souls..." he reached into his pocket and pulled out a spherical gem. "They are all becoming a part of my will." The blue gem glowed in the palm of his hand.

"That's.... the Blue Soul."

"Precisely. I found it, the original one, from the time of the Zilart and Kuluu. It wasn't completed after all. It still needs a thousand or so more souls to be complete. And these pitiful children of Altana are just as good as the Zilart."

"You've gone mad..." Rosalyn threw out her arms. "What the hell is wrong with you!?"

"I've finally realized what is wrong with this world. So much fighting. Amongst the children of Altana. Amongst the Beastmen. I plan to put an end to it all with my Blue Soul." Joseph reached his hand out to Rosalyn. "Come with me, and stand by my side as we watch the world fall apart."

Rosalyn's eyes widened. The last time someone offered his hand to her... she had become what she was now.

"The Blue Soul is not just a weapon, Rosalyn. I can use its power to fix you. To remove that beast from your soul. You'll be free again." Joseph stepped forward.

"Get the hell away from me!" Rosalyn shouted. A blast of air rocketed outward from her as if a great beast had flapped its wings. Her mantle billowed in the wind and a darkness grew behind her. The visage of something large began to take shape, a strong aura that usually burned inside her. Ate away at her soul and mind as it begged to be let out. Ethereal wings spread outward, blocking out the sky.

Rosalyn stepped forward as she drew her swords. "Azure Lore."

Microcuts breathed heavily as she stood in front of the enemies she had just defeated, clutching her legs to check her injury.

Windurst...? But...why?

"You there! Halt!" a voice from behind commanded. As Microcuts turned around, she was faced with a sword blade, only a hair's width away from her neck.

"All women and children were to evacuate long ago," a Grand Temple Knight barked, "Explain your self. Now!"

"I am Microcuts, certified adventurer of Sand'Oria." Microcuts pointed at the Sand'Orian insignia on her sleeve, catching some breath. The knight lowered his sword.

"If you have the means to fight, do so but take caution. This place is overrun with those cursed Windustians." said the Knight with a half defeated face.

"Wait! Surely you don't believe they would do something as such..."

"I have my doubts but...my duty is to serve the Kingdom and follow orders, not my intuitions." the Knight turned towards Chateau d'Oraguille, "They have raised the drawbridge, so do not concern your self. They'll be fine. I will escort the civilians through Carpenter's Landing soon. I suggest you follow and make yourself useful and wait for me there."

"I will go look for more civilians that may have been left behind." Microcuts lied and did not let him respond as she headed towards the center of Northern Sand'Oria.

Rosalyn...you will explain yourself...

The Parade Ground before the Chateau was relatively empty and quiet, except for a familiar figure - Rosalyn. She wasn't alone, as she squared off against a tall, dark figure. She ran towards the two, but did not call her out. As she approached within hearing distance, she heard two words murmured by the Mithra - "Azure Lore."

((She is thinking that about Rosalyn not because of Windurst, but because she is upset that Sand'Oria is swept up by what seems like a conflict brought upon by Rosalyn's factions.))

Rosalyn's weapons clashed hard against Joseph's great sword and they pressed against each other, trying to gain the upper hand. The city was no longer there to them. Rosalyn's aura of the great wyrm clouded the real world. Wings blocked out the sky and the mass of the beast encircled them.

Rosalyn growled deep in her throat, breathed in, and released a gout of flame from her mouth in Joseph's face. He stumbled backward and used the backward momentum to swing his great sword in a wide circle. Rosalyn leaped over the Grim Halo attack and swung her swords downward with enough force to embed them in the ground. Joseph had evaded that attack and returned his sword to his back. He rushed in close again, performing a Shackled Fist attack that knocked Rosalyn away several feet. The wyrm above them let out a roar that shook the ground.

It spoke to her. Tried to seduce her with power to tear asunder all that stood before her. Rosalyn stood up from her crumpled position on the ground and removed her veil long enough to spit blood.

"Give up," Joseph taunted. "I know everything you can throw at me. Every spell, every technique. I've seen you use them hundreds of times." Joseph drew his two long swords and strode toward her. "There is nothing you cannot do to me."

Rosalyn growled. "Then how about I return what you just gave me! Asuran Claws!" Rosalyn jumped forward, slashing wildly with her hands. Joseph stepped back and away, to and fro as he avoided the desperate attacks. Rosalyn howled and moved her hands all around her. The image of a hardened cocoon appeared around her as she bolstered her defenses. "Cannonball!" She cried as she launched a blast toward Joseph.

"Aegis Schism." The cannonball shattered in the air before it even reached Joseph.

"You can't win. None of you can. Do you know why that is?"

Rosalyn looked up at him, breathing raggedly. He was now standing above her.

"It's because you're tainted. All of you. I will cleanse this land of its tarnished children, and start it anew." he grimaced down at her, the shadows on his face moving like smoke. "I'm truly sorry you couldn't come with me." Joseph raised his swords.

"Like I need to listen to you." Rosalyn spat.

"Oh?"

"Even if we are tainted. Even if we are tainted by our faults. Even if we are defeated by the apathy that plagues us. Even if we are consumed by the cowardice that binds us, twisted by the envy that drives us. Even if we are overwhelmed by the arrogance that disfigures us. And even if we are burnt by the rage that controls us. We will stand and fight and break through any challenge that stands before us!"

"Are you done yet?" Joseph raised his sword once more, only to have them blown out of his hands by a force of energy. He looked up to the origin and saw a figure standing atop the Windurstian consulate building.

"Just who the hell do you think we are!?" Volt'aire shouted.

Joseph's eyes widened in surprise.

Rosalyn launched to her feet and slugged Joseph square in the face with enough force to send him sprawling backward. As Joseph crawled to his feet, Volt'aire's scythe slammed into the ground, the mandible cutting into the cobblestone street. Volt'aire floated down slowly, standing atop the wooden shaft. He crossed his arms over his chest and looked down on Joseph. "I told you that I would kill you."

Joseph spat. "Not today, Zilart." Joseph fell backward into his shadow on the ground and disappeared.
To be forgotten is worse than death.

In all my time training, never did I think it would be my training as a blacksmith that would aid me in a fight. Granted, I never expected opponents with such mass-produced arms either. These weren't made piece by piece by the hands of a skill artisan, these were created with speed being the ultimate goal, to make sure everyone in an army had some semblance of a weapon.
"What crappy craft do you have?" I taunted a tarutaru. Truthfully I had no idea what was wrong with his halberd yet, but I'd figure out. I slapped his weapon out of the way as I dodged to the side, and was rewarded with a rattling sound as it loosened. As he drew it back for another strike, the head sailed off behind him. He was rewarded with a boot to the head.

I saw Rosalyn heading north, but there was the small matter of an army between me and her. I altered my stance, no longer concerned with toying around with their weapons. I turned my body into an instrument of destruction, attacking with a flurry of precise strikes as I made my way through the crowd. But it was tiring, and I no long had the luxury of not being surrounded. But there was an ally lobbing fireballs who could probably use some assistance. I tried to make my way towards her... and then there was a pillar of flame.

---

It was as I was starting off into the distance, awaiting the arrival of the other beastmen so I could join their ranks, that I heard a voice from behind me.
"I don't recall inviting any moogles!"
I started to explain myself, going over the story I'd concocted of being the Ark Angel of moogles... but before I could get a single word out, a bag was thrown over my head, trapping me inside.
"If you can't fight your way out of a bag... you don't really belong here."
I wasn't in much of a position to cast any spells. How I moved my body was as important as the words I spoke... and right now I happened to be upside down with a lot of strain on my neck, and one of my wings was folded at an awkward angle.

I hoped to get out of the bag soon.

((I looked through the recent posts... and I can't find where it mentions some of your crew being outside down by the docks. Maybe it was something I missed, like deducing who wasn't at the base?))

Blue couldnt believe the chaos that surrounded her.

Though Aeric had sugguested the two of them split up, Bluelissa knew that she should not stray too far in case anything were to happen to either of them. They both have been in such situations before, but a protective instinct grew inside her and she decided she would do her best to keep Aeric's position in sight.

After a few buffs, Blue pulled out her Macuahuitl. She casted enthunder upon herself and engaged herself at those who attacked the innocent. While she fought, Blue couldnt help but to take notice at all those around her. All the best of Sand'Oria were out defending the best to their ability.

The mages caught her attention the most. She was surrounded by Whitmages who casted cure spells and buffs to all they could. Bodies were being raised; surrounded by lights are sparkles. Blackmages were casting every -aga spell imaginable to swarms of those attacking the city. She had seen and been in many battles during her journey as an adventurer, but she felt as if she had never seen such magic being casted at once as this one. There were so many spells being casted at once, it was hard not to feel a bit swallowed by such beautiful colors and lights.

Blue continued to battle and found herself growing tired. Surrounded by foes, it was hard to cast buffs upon herself while trying not to be an open target for hate.

A sudden thought ran through Blue's mind: "And if you ever find yourself alone, call on me and i'll be ready to go!"
"Oh my goodness, Kolui!" Blue then reached for a pearl attached to her ear and called upon her fellow. Kolui arrived and quickly began to buff the two of them.

As her and Kolui battled there way further into town, they ended up near the center of Northern Sand'Oria. From the corner of her eye she saw a familiar face. It was the hume Warrior from Aeric's party up on the peak.

Blue could tell the girl was hurt by the way she clutched her leg. With haste, Blue then casted a strong Cure III and Protect III on her.

Suddenly from behind her was a huge explosion. As she turned to see where it came from, a cloud of dust began to rise from where the Lion's Tavern was.

Blue's eyes grew wide and her skin went pale. The last place she saw Aeric was near the tavern. "Oh God...Aeric!"

Blue quickly shouted towards the Warrior, "we must stay together! Find the others and meet by the tavern!"

With her haste spell still in effect, Blue quickly casted an invisible spell on herself to avoid any confrontation and dashed herself in the direction of the explosion.

- - -

As Blue ran up the steps towards the fountain that stood infront of the Lion's Tavern, Blue's invisible spell wore. She then fell upon a crowed of people surrounded by rubble from surrounding buildings. There was a chaos of people who laid wounded screaming for help and others running in all directions.

She began to look around searching for sight of Aeric. Screaming his name, she frantically pushed her way through the crowed.

Blue suddenly stopped dead in her tracks. In front of her was a pole with a red tattered hat resting upon it. It was Aeric's Warlock's Chapeau.

"No...please, no..." Blue's vision began to blur from tears. All of a sudden, she felt as if everything around her had silenced. The screams and blasts of battle became faint and the only thing she could hear was the sound of her own heartbeat. Kolui came running up a few steps behind her shouting her name, but she didnt take notice. Blue felt as if everything had stopped. For that moment she forgot what horrible act of war was taking place around her. The world began to slow down...nothing mattered.

Bluelissa then fell to her knees. Her arms fell limp to her side as she dropped her head and began to weep. Kolui then noticed something clutched in her right hand. The grip of her right hand became loose and there she dropped her Starfall Tear.

Re: FFXI Play by Post

Postby Darkvalkyr on Fri Mar 20, 2009 9:36 am

Upon entering the town with such hurried pace, Valkyr was halted by several San d'Orian guards. Apparently, they couldn't forget his face of being one of the better known adventurers in Windurst.

"Halt! You will come quietly or --" they started, but Valkyr cut him off.
"Do you have any idea what's going on?" the Tarutaru began, apparently annoyed at how idiotic San d'Orian guards were. "Can you even sense any LIFE in those things wearing Windurstian outfits?" while the nearest guards were thinking, another guard came and swung his halberd, which Valkyr promptly took his sword and parried it. "All you Elvaan are the same. I don't know why I should even come here to save you all!" he summoned a coat of feathers to surround him, and with heightened evasiveness he bolted past the guards and into the fray. He saw Rosalyn's carnage occur and couldn't help but be impressed.

That girl's got some nice moves.

...yeah...she looks real strong...

Valkyr shivered at the scent of how much power reeked from her. He couldn't help but feel the strange ravenous tinge to absorb her essence for it was probably well within his reach -- No, he couldn't. He promised he won't take a soul for selfish gains, and he will definitely not start now. Several of the 'Windurstians' had swung their weapons at him, which he dodged and retaliated with readying both swords and performed a wild swing to the targets around him. There were several more, but he ran instead, seeing Rosalyn headed to the Northern part. There was a large scruff going on near the entrance, so Valkyr sought to quell that by singing the sheep's bellow, putting them to sleep. As they fell asleep, the Tarutaru chased Rosalyn to the northern part, only to be bothered by several more San d'Orian guards and adventurers.

As he made battle, he listened to the conversation that passed between Joseph and Rosalyn. As he offered his hand to Joseph, he felt that his eyes decieved him, but it almost felt like as if Joseph was staring at him too. He looked into the strange eyes of the man, brimming to the rim with power. The alluring attraction to follow him began nagging at him, and he almost felt like joining and accepting his offer would make him powerful. After all, the human races are full of sins capable of putting demons to shame. They deserved to be erased.

Kid, watch out! To your right!

Valkyr immediately rolled forward and sprayed a swath of bats at the attacker, sending him sprawling to the wall of the consulate. Breathing heavily, he turned to Joseph again, who had avoided an attack made by Volt'aire and had vanished. He almost felt disappointed, but he didn't have much time as more soldiers tried to attack him, which he frustratingly countered by spreading a sleeping gas coming from most Puktrap. He sheathed his blades and went to Rosalyn, almost feeling guilty of his feelings of deception from before. "Could you tell them to stop trying to kill me?" he asked, now undoubtedly annoyed at the idiocy of San d'Orian knights.

Microcuts was simply in awe. She had never witnessed such fight before in her life, as Rosalyn continued to throw herself at Joseph, spell after spell. What was even scarier was that Joseph didn't flinch once.

Just then, in the corner of her eyes, she caught a blade swinging in her direction. She deftly dodged and jumped back. It was a Mithra, wielding a scythe, very befitting as she taunted Microcuts with menace.

They lunged for each other, but the sheer mass of the weapon put the Mithra at an advantage as they locked blades. Microcuts let out a warcry as she pushed her away, and attempted to close the distance once agin. Before that could happen, the Mithra was quick to react as she cast a spell manifesting couple magical rings, immobilizing Microcuts dead on the spot. The Mithra stepped up and wound up for a large, powerful swing as Microcuts could only watch. Just then, the spell's effect disappeared, and Microcuts ducked in the nick of time.

As Microcuts closed in on the unbalance Mithra, the Mithra threw a frenzied swing in an attempt to defend herself, but this time, it the swing was too fast for Microcuts to dodge. The blade effortlessly cut through the armor and left a cut on her side. Microcuts winced but fought through the pain. With the distance closed, Microcuts let out five swift and vicious chops with her axe as to not give the Mithra any chance to react.

Rosalyn and Joseph, and now Volt'aire too were still at it with each other, but suddenly Joseph disappeared. In the distance, she noticed a Sand'Orian Knights, engaging a Tarutaru...It was Valkyr, who shook them off almost too easily, then joined Rosalyn.

"Rosalyn! Valkyr!" Microcuts called for them.

"Valkyr, the Sand'Orian Knights are obviously confused. Stick with me and they shouldn't bother you." Microcuts then turned and walked towards Rosalyn.

"Rosalyn..." Microcuts stared at her coldly, "Is he gone? What did he want from us?" she was slowly losing her composure. "Who was that and what the hell did he want in Sand'Oria?!" she asked as she gripped Rosalyn by the collar.

((Microcuts is not mad at Rosalyn personally, honest  . Just more so at the situation of it all.))

Postby Odine on Fri Mar 20, 2009 1:59 pm

All that had transpired since his arrival in San d'Oria had the Dark Knight delving even deeper into his contemplations whilst he darted for the city gates. His suspicions of Rosalyn and the Zilart had not quite been assuaged, even with the arrival of the army, with one of their allies caught up in the fray. Odine knew all too well that webs of deceit could be woven with untold complexity. Little by little, it did seem that their benevolent intentions very well could be genuine, however. He would allow no hypothesized conclusions to drive his own intent, though, as doing so in either direction could prove to be a fatal mistake. Adaptability was key to survival and one could do this by remaining ever willing to alter their perception when necessary. All these thoughts were flushed away quickly, however, as Odine drew closer to the gates. The scent of blood mingled with charred wood on the air whilst cries of horror and agony filled his ears faintly from beyond the city walls. Odine's step became swifter now, his yearning for combat driving him onward with even more resolve now that the taste of mayhem was just beyond his tongue. Clasping at his Tredecim Scythe, Odine drew the weapon, anticipation welling within him as he erupted through the gates into the fray.

Chaos consumed his senses, a symphony of death being orchestrated all for him in his own mind. It was his nature to fight, to be the dark messenger for those living on borrowed time. It had been sheer will that had harnessed this power, focused it into a weapon. A force to be reckoned with, Odine used this power and lust for battle to serve rather than abolish. In truth, he did abolish and took pleasure in it, yet in service to those in need. Could such a balance exist? Harnessing destructive natures to for the better of others? Odine did not know for sure, but he would damn sure try, no matter what it cost him, even his own soul.

The first poor schmuck to advance upon him seemed too weak of a challenge for the veteran adventurer, a Dark Knight, no less. The scythe was brought forward quickly to intercept his first opponent's initial thrust with a longsword. Alloys clashed but for a moment, quick, dexterous movements of Odine's hands upon the scythe causing the blade to slide along the shaft of the weapon whilst it rotated in the air, parrying the blade away. Moving in close for the kill, Odine's speed was surprising for a knight bearing seemingly heavy armor. Yet this was not the case, the materials and synthesis of the finely fashioned Abyss Cuirass providing him decent protection, at little cost in weight. Now before his opponent, with the scythe brought to bare on high, Odine would launch his arms downward, bringing the scythe along with them to cleave through the mithra. His momentum would again accelerate at speeds that would surprise many as he darted with his scythe lowered by his side through the miasma like substance that was left behind in the dissipation of his felled enemy. Three more mithra had just arrived to the gates to fend him off, taken a bit aback by the ferocity with which their ally had been cut down.

Hesitation, more often than not, meant death on the field of battle and such was the case with the three. Not bothering to stop, Odine threw his weight into an upward, diagonal slice aimed to cleave the three in half at an angle. The first two were unable to ready themselves in time, and found themselves writhing in agony within their last moments as the razor, curved edge of the blade ripped through their bodies before returning to oblivion. The last, wielding a great katana, was able to ready her weapon before her comrades were slain. She clashed with the curved blade of the scythe, quickly darting inward with her own momentum whilst she pushed against Odine's weapon to drive it away and throw him off balance. Her elbow darted out quickly to meet with his face, causing the Dark Knight to stumble backward. The mithra thought to take advantage of this and ready her blade at her side to strike at the seemingly defenseless adventurer. Yet Odine would not be felled so easily and by a mere peon, no less. The blow had done nothing to stun him, yet served only as a means for him to withdraw. Quickly gaining his composure and thus the upper hand, Odine stepped forward to move directly in front of the mithra, making her horizontal slashing stance ineffective. Quickly reaching out with his left, armored hand, his fingers would clutch at the significantly smaller mithra's neck. Lifting her into the air, he would toss her backward, into a row of several other approaching mithra. "Is this is?! The best you have to offer?!" A malicious scowl erupted upon his visage as he roared, monstrous tones echoing across the battlefield.

"Last Resort!!" Adrenaline pumped throughout him as he drew upon his inner reserves, calling forth a savage strength and unparalleled aggression. Barreling forward like raving battering ram, Odine would strike with his scythe as he ran through the horde, leaving explosions of black mist in his wake from those that were unable to defend themselves. Those that had managed to bring their weapons and shields in to block, unable to anything else from the sheer ferocity and haste of the desperate blows, were sent flailing across the ground, bashing into one another from the sheer power of blows. Odine was desperate, indeed. Not for survival, but for a true challenge. He wanted a battle, not a slaughter. These peons were nothing to him and as such, they would be regarded as so.

The Dark Knight that had just gone loose cannon on the hordes, carved a swathe through the enemy, unknowing of his allies positions for the time being or even the overall state of the conflict anywhere else. These fodder served only to empower his resolve even more, something he would reserve and unleash at the appropriate moment. When he found that challenge, that struggle for victory. It was the only thing that drove him now, nothing else. Not even the mass destruction he was reigning upon the poor souls of the enemy army that were unlucky enough to be in his way.
..A wounded man shall say to his assailant, "If I live, I will kill you. If I die, you are forgiven." Such is the rule of honor.

Valkyr glanced at Microcuts and nodded. At least some San d'Orian would be able to help show the blind knights who is friend and foe. He kept his gaze focused at Microcuts as she grabbed at Rosalyn's neck. "Microcuts, you need to calm down." he gently said. Valkyr still found it weird to be calling someone Microcuts, however -- but nicknames do come and go -- as was Valkyr's older nickname, which he had discarded long since. "Shouting at Rosalyn won't give you answers faster than if you ask her calmly." he told her. As much as he hated consoling another person, not because he didn't enjoy telling other people how to behave, but more like he felt a bit out of place or even partly afraid of what Microcuts' reaction would be, he still felt the need to calm down the woman -- they didn't need any more friendly fire as it is.

It's still hectic, kid.

Yeah, but there's nothing these Fomor can really offer me, and I bet he's already noticed the fight.

I bet he's glad there's some of us taking down notes here, hm?

He's probably jumping for joy.

...Hey, Valkyr... the voice halted for a moment. Valkyr's only reply was a "Hm?" out loud. Don't think I didn't catch what you were thinking. Valkyr frowned and gave a wince as he glared over to the Cathedral.

Nothing escapes you -- I know that. Valkyr could only think.

You were really serious about it?

...I...I'm not sure. I don't know what came over me, but... he sunk low for a moment, depressingly thinking of events long gone.

Snap out of it! Save the misery for later. A mental nod was the Taru's answer, and he didn't seem too interested in returning to battle, in fear of knights showing their blatant stupidity.

When the inferno cleared Resha stood with her face to the sky, a smile on her face. A stray flame had burnt her hairband away and her hair fell from their loose braids, drifting behind her in the light breeze. The Temple Knights and adventurers within the immediate vicinity looked up in confusion, blinking repeatedly after the bright light. They were all unscathed despite the blaze that touched the sky a moment ago.

Resha reached her hand up into the air and moved her fingers as if she were grasping the moon high above her. She smirked to herself and returned to an impartial stance. She fished in the pockets of her slacks for another hairband as she took gauge of the situtation. There were many adventurers about, and a large number of San d'Orian troops. As Resha reached back and grabbed her hair she noticed a Galkan Monk and a Dark Knight of unknown race. She tied a band around the hair at the back of her head and another at the end, she'd have to braid it again later.

"Oi, Mr. Galka," Resha called out to him as she approached. "Where'd you get those pretty little punchers of yours?" She reached her hands out to her sides and fire spiraled along the length of her arms until it reached her hands where it spun like a wheel. The fire dissipated and she was now holding a chakram emblazoned with a firey design along the blade in each hand. "I just got these."

"Oh," Resha said, turning her attention away from the Galka. More of the enemy troops were advancing from the West Ronfaure gate. "Volt'aire, can you hear me yet?"

---

Rosalyn stared hard at Microcuts as the hume gripped tightly on her collar. Rosalyn's eyes were brighter than usual, a cold blue that seemed to look at everything at once. "That was Joseph. He was here to collect souls for his weapon."

The wyrm inside her stirred. It had been so close to getting free. Azure Lore was the first lock. It allowed Rosalyn to siphon the great wyrm's power for a limited time. Had she grown desperate enough to use Chain Affinity, the beast would have been free to wreak havoc.

Rosalyn grabbed Micro's wrist hard, perhaps tighter than she should, and tore it away from her. "I understand your concern for you nation but how do you think I feel? He marched that Fomor army in here pretending to be Windurst! And he's going to do the same thing to them if we don't stop him. How are you going to feel when the undead march on Windurst wearing your your flag on their shoulder?"

Rosalyn turned away from the hume. "I'm sorry. But we need to hold together just a little longer."

"Volt'aire, can you hear me yet?" Resha's voice rang clear through the linkpearl.

"I can hear you, how are things going?" he replied.

"Bad, they keep coming. Can you do anything about this?" she asked. The sounds of battle that could be heard in the distance were coming in through the pearl.

Volt'aire looked up into the sky as he pulled off his glasses. He put them up into his hat and pulled out a small device which he place on the side of his head. A lense of some sort covered his left eye. "Might take a few minutes based on how many there are, but there's no better time than now. The moon's full." Volt'aire lifted up off of the ground, grabbed his scythe, and shot straight up into the air a dizzying distance.

He was now situated several hundred feet in the air above San d'Oria, and he could see the entire city clearly. He swung his scythe in a circle around him, and a bright white circle of magic spread outward. He stepped down onto the magic as if it were solid as the pattern spiraled outward and became more intricate.

"Scanning for targets now." Volt'aire said quietly as the magic circle finished growing. He now stood several hundred feet in the air on top of a perfect map of San d'Oria. Hundreds of red dots appeared along the white floor, rapidly growing in number. Volt'aire tightened his grip on his scythe. "I'm counting upward of two thousand."

"How much time do you need?" Resha asked through the linkpearl.

"A full moon tonight. All of the stray magic in the air. Not to mention the fact that I haven't cut loose since we got back from the Far East." Volt'aire swung his scythe and pointed it straight into the air. The empty sockets of the demon skull began to glow. "This is it: thirty seconds!"

A single white sphere appeared above Volt'aire's scythe. Almost immediately, similar bubbles began appearing in the air around him and were drawn into the center. The orb above him began to grow in size as magic poured into it.

"Foul creatures of darkness that plague us so," Volt'aire began as the magic grew larger and larger above him, "Altana may take pity upon your tortured souls but I hold no such thing for you. Stars cry, planets fall," the sphere of magic had finished growing, it now pulsated in the air. "heed my words and hear my call." Volt'aire swung his scythe hard, slamming the shaft onto the circle below his feet. "Moonlight Breaker!"

The sphere of magic shattered, and thousands of individual beams of light poured from it down on the city of San d'Oria. The red lights vanished from the magical map of San d'Oria faster than they had appeared. From below it would appear as if the heavens had opened up to let loose its wrath. As targets vanished from the map the magic that made up the beams dissipated back to a harmless state in the air. The light continued to rain down until ever single red dot had vanished from the map.

Over two thousand Fomor destroyed in one powerful attack. And no misfires.

Volt'aire staggered on his magical platform. "Whoo, that's...that's definately harder than just tossing the damned thing at the city..." The magical circle under his feet flickered, faded, and vanished. Volt'aire plummited.
To be forgotten is worse than death.

Aeric sits up, coughing dust.

His vision still a bit blurry, he reaches up and feels the bump on the back of his head. To his horror, his hat is absent from his inventory. Slowly rising to his feet, coughing a bit more, he examines his dungeon surroundings. Slightly hunched over, he does his best to peer into the darkness.

Thank goodness for phalanx and stoneskin...

Behind him, the tunnel had collapsed and was blocked off by the debris from the surface. Sighing dejectedly he presses forward, his hand feeling the wall as makes his way down the tunnel.

I must have been driven under San d'Oria, to the outer reaches of their prison chambers...

Suddenly Aeric hears a sound, like nails on a chalk board. Aeric immediatly withdraws one of his blades and lights the tunnel as best he can with enfire. Doing his best to peer into the darkness a shadow transposed over darkness flaps it's leathery wings towards him.

Crap...
