The Otherworld - Character Creation and Discussion

I'd have to call Silent Hill 1 and 3 the best. No offense to 2, but it was more like a spinoff than a sequel. 3 actually continued in the storyline set by the first.

Well, 4 and 6 had nothing to do with the first game (4 being completely cut off from any of the other games as I recall, 6 as well) but 5 was the prequel to 1.

I dunno, I like 2 and 6 the most because it has more character development and symbolism that's reflected in the main characters than the others. The remake for 1 looks very promising and is supposedly going to reflect you the player's psyche through a Q&A at the start of the game and your actions though.

Three wasn't AS good as I thought it was going to be. Mostly due to the fact that you can beast the game in 4 hours, since you can just run past 80% of the monsters. Still awesome though. You're Not Here is one of my favorite songs, now.

Homecoming didn't dissapoint at all. The bosses were sickening (in the BEST way possible) the character developement and story were top notch. Pyramid Head also gets his most epic kill yet. That, and the black guy actually LIVES (if you so decide). I also like how they make it tie in with the other games.

The Room.. good story, but the stupid unkillable ghost thingers were annoying. Room of Angel was another fine discovery that will remain with me though. :3

Two is my favorite, if only because it got me into the series.

One... I was too young to get wtf was going on when my dad and uncle played through it, and now I can seem to stomache playing it, despite my love of older games.

You could increase the difficulty of the puzzles/monsters in 3 though which is awesome. The very first puzzle, in normal difficulty, requires simple pattern recognition. In hard mode, it requires in depth knowledge of four shakspearean plays. How awesome is that?

As far as perception is concerned, how does that work in a group environment? For example, would it be correct to assume that if Sindy walked out to the main hall of the bar she'd notice at least whatever Chris already has observed when he stepped out of the storage room? (And possibly more?)

I think that in group environments, if you are all looking together for something it makse sense that your perception skill is added together to see if it checks against the perception score of the object of note that you're trying to find.

In solo situations, it's just your perception against the check.

Example:

Solo:
There is a box of handgun bullets on the table. It rates a 5 because the table is nearby but the room is dark and it's amongst a salt and pepper shaker and a bottle of ketchup. If your perception is higher than 5, you see it. If your perception is lower, you may have to inspect closer.

Group setting:
There is a hidden passageway somewhere in the room, you can tell because of a strange breeze that one of your group members picked up on. It rates 45 because it is cleverly hidden and may even require a secret switch of some sort. If your total perception is higher than 45 and you're working together, it may be easy to find. If your total perception is lower than 45 it may take you additional turns to find the secret passageway.

Rosalyn pretty much got it; though in the post I'll write who notices what.

Your perception is higher than Chris, methinks. So you'd notice what's there and possibly more.

Pff, derailment is fine.

I'm doin' fine. X-mas was cool. Got a new pc, since my last one exploded. Also lots of art supplies, so I can get back on the drawing wagon. Maybe fanart for the pbp? I dunno.

I've been 19 for 3 days now. I'm hoping to get drunk tomorrow.

How about you?
